What matters
As a doula, who does it a little differently, I'm committed to providing inclusive and affirming care for all families, throughout every birth, and to do so every single time. But what does this really mean? It means, EVERY family matters and EVERY type of birth matters, PERIOD. Explore below to learn about my core values and how they relate to the support I offer. It's important to me and so are you!
-
I provide unbiased, non-judgemental care to all people giving birth and their partners/support systems. I believe that everyone deserves support, no matter how or where birth happens.
-
I believe that the best care begins with research-based, proven fact. I am committed to the practice of childbirth and our guidance and support is rooted in our current and continued education.
-
I don’t expect my clients to be someone they’re not! I want to see the real person, with all the complexities and intricacies that come with being human. In turn, I will show up for you in the same authentic way.
-
I will always be honest with my clients, even when the conversations are hard. I don’t sugarcoat hard truths, but instead, use compassion, empathy and transparency to help our clients understand and process their unique circumstances. I want my clients to feel safe enough to talk to us about anything, ask any questions, or be vulnerable.
I believe in you
Working in the birth community for more than 15 years, I’ve witnessed the inequity and discrimination some face when giving birth. I am the kind of doula, the kind of person, who refuses to ignore it; instead, I work diligently to advocate for my clients, helping their voices be heard and choices abided by.
It is no secret that we are struggling in the fight against maternal mortality in our country, specifically in the BIPOC communities. And, although we are struggling, I refuse to give up and stay quiet. I am fiercely committed to continuing the work to learn + acknowledge the reality of implicit bias, systematic racism, and the fact the numbers don’t lie. I am deeply aware of the privilege I carry as a white woman .navigating birth work. With that awareness comes responsibility, not to center myself but to listen, learn, and actively work toward improving outcomes.
I'm committed to providing inclusive and affirming care for all families, including those in the LGBTQIA+ community. I understand that pregnancy and birth experiences are unique, and I'm here to support your specific needs, whether that involves navigating chosen family dynamics, addressing gender identity considerations, or advocating for your rights in medical settings. My goal is to create a safe and respectful space where you feel empowered and supported throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey.
